About Minneriya
Minneriya National Park is the site of "The Gathering" — one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles. Between June and October, over 200–400 wild Asian elephants converge on the ancient Minneriya tank as the surrounding grasslands dry up.
It is the largest gathering of Asian elephants anywhere in the world. Beyond elephants, the park hosts leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, hundreds of bird species and the stunning backdrop of the 2,000-year-old ancient tank.
